Lula Hammett "Lou" Guy,79, passed away at her residence in Avenue, MD on February 19, 2026. She was born on June 8, 1946, in Leonardtown, MD, to the late Ethel Marie Ridgell Hammett and Ignatius Abell Hammett. She was proceeded in death by her husband Joe Matt's Guy, whom she married on November 6, 1965, in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD and who preceded her in death on December 9, 1999.

Lou is survived by her children Wayne Guy (Arlene) of Avenue, MD, Missy Oliver (Brian) of Budds Creek, MD, Tracey Wood (Frankie) of Leonardtown, MD, Nick Guy (Cathy) of Chaptico, MD, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and siblings, Carney Hammett of Charlotte Hall, MD, Cecilia Atkins of California, MD, and John Hammett of Avenue, MD. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Daniel Hammett, Agnes Wathen, Evelyn Wathen, Jerome Hammett, Doris Norris, and David Hammett.

Lou was a lifelong St. Mary's County, MD resident and graduated from Margaret Brent High School in 1964.
Lou loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed watching the Washington Commanders, Hallmark movies, and playing bingo.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD with Rev. James Oberle officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Bushwood, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be Glenn Dean, Jonny Oliver, Matt Guy, Travis Guy, Kenny Hammett, and Blaize Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Hannah Oliver, Olivia Guy, Boone Guy, Jaxon Dean, Elliott Oliver, and Pearson Oliver.
