![]() Inez Matilda Myers Hale transitioned into eternity on May 8, 2009 to begin a new life in her Father's House, where there are many mansions!
Inez was born on July 17, 1935 in Bryans Road, Maryland. She was the 6th child of 14 children born to the late Ralph and Constance Myers. Inez's early childhood was spent in Charles County, where she attended public schools in Pomonkey, Maryland and she also joined the Metropolitan Methodist Church. In August, 1954, she joined in Holy Matrimony to Milton Clyde Hale. To this union were born 4 children: Larry, Dorothy, Deborah and Lamont. Along with her husband, in 1962, she became a member of First Baptist Church of Highland Park. The late Milton Clyde Hale preceded her in death January 19, 1973. Inez was a very active member of various groups at First Baptist Church of Highland Park including: Senior Gospel Choir, Consoling Choir and the Women for Christ Ministry. Community Organizations include American Legion/Glenarden Post (22 years), Volunteer and social activities included St. Margarets' Young Senior Travel Group. Her work experience began as a home maker which she loved, but she sought out to do more and joined Prince George's County Board of Education. She began her career as a Social Worker (Head Start/Follow Through Program), which led to being a Teacher's Aide before retirement after 10 years of service. Inez loved her family; she enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and traveling. She is survived by two (2) sons: Larry Hale and Lamont Hale; two (2) daughters: Dorothy Thomas and Deborah Shackleford;; one daughter-in-law Susie Hale; one son-in-law David Thomas; eight (8) grandchildren: Angela Hale, Koran Thomas, Obatieya Thomas, Antonia Hale, Lebaron Thomas, Larry. Hale, Jr., Marcell Shackleford and special grandson Rico Myers; ten (10) great grandchildren: Brandon Hale, Jeffrey Coan, Kearah Harris, Cameron Harris, Koran Thomas, Anton Hale, Aja Hale, Andrew Hale, Antonio Hale, and Saniya Thomas; two (2) sisters: Shirley Thomas and Lillie Browne; six (6) brothers: Ralph Myers, Jr.., Leon Myers, Lawrence Myers, Ronald Myers, Robert Myers and Gardnell Myers; eight (8) sisters-in-law: Melissa Myers, Edna Myers, Pearl Myers, Barbara Jean Myers, Bessie Myers, Queen Myers, Elaine Myers and Carrie Myers; one (1) brother-in-law: Paul Browne; four (4) aunts: Ophelia Myers, Lillian Richardson, Edith Myers and Alice Myers; three (3) uncles: Oliver Myers, Girard Myers and Fred Richardson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Her viewing will be held on Thursday, May 14th, 10:00am until time of service 11:00 at the First Baptist Church of Highland Park, 6801 Sheriff Road, Landover, Maryland 20785.
