Mark Wayne Musegades, age 63, of Boise, Idaho, peacefully passed away on January 5, 2026 at his home. Mark was born in Chester, Montana on November 8, 1962, the oldest of three sons born to Shorty (Ottomar) and Dorothy Musegades. He was raised in the Lutheran church and was a lifelong Christian.
Mark grew up in Conrad, graduated from Conrad High School in 1981. He loved the freedom of hunting, fishing and enjoying the great outdoors of Montana. After high school he enlisted in the US Navy and spent a 20-year career serving his country. He worked hard to hone his skills as an Aviation Machinist Mate specializing on F-14 Tomcat, and later, F-18 Hornet, jet engine maintenance. One of his favorite maintenance tasks came when he earned his qualification to perform high power maintenance tests which entailed strapping the aircraft down in the "hush house" while he sat in the cockpit and advanced the throttles to full after-burner. His Navy career allowed him to live in numerous places around the country and visit numerous countries around the world. He even met up with his brother Mike, for a short visit in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea when Mike's ship was conducting underway replenishment with Mark's ship. Mark's Sea Service counter pegged at 2 years, seven months and 21 days at sea. For a Montana boy… that was plenty! Along the way, he met the one love of his life, Barbara. They married in the Base Chapel, NAS Patuxent River, MD on 6 October, 1990, and had two children, Andrew and Scott. Even though their marriage later ended, Mark remained devoted to ensuring his boys were cared for and brought up to be independent, hard-working men. Mark retired from the Navy in September 2001 while his family lived in Jacksonville, FL. He then began work at the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) on NAS Jacksonville, rebuilding jet engines for the Navy. He was featured in the Naval Aviation News magazine at one point showing him working on and in the fuel cells of one of the Blue Angels' F-18 demonstration aircraft. After leaving FRCSE, he moved away from Jacksonville, spent time in IL with his brother John, then some time in Salmon, ID with his brother Mike before moving to Boise. Mark's Naval service left him in poor health and he had hoped to get healed up and back out in the mountains to enjoy God's good creation. But instead, thanks to his faith in Christ, God called him home to Heaven, the place that is even more glorious than the mountains! Mark was preceded in death by his parents, one still born brother, his sister-in-law Terri (Lehman) Demski and is survived by his ex-wife, Barbara Lehman of Prince Frederick, MD; two sons - Andrew of Prince Frederick, MD and Scott of Lusby, MD; two brothers – Mike (Jenneane) of Salmon, ID and John (Amy) of Millington, IL; his brother-in-law – John Lehman of Cudjoe Key, FL; five nieces – Michele (Brian) Doel of Portage, IN and Lila (Nicolas) Towers of Okinawa, Japan; Jessica Demski of Orlando, FL, Erica Williams of Mulberry, FL, Rebecca Hogg of Lakeland, FL; and numerous cousins and dear friends around the country and world. Burial in Arlington National Cemetery, VA is being planned. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent in memory of Mark to Boise Rescue Mission Ministries, PO Box 1494, Boise, ID 83701. |
