Norbert Earl Pickeral, 80, of Waldorf, MD, died May 6, 2009, at Ft. Washington Hospital Center, Ft. Washington, MD.

Mr. Pickeral was a lifelong resident of Waldorf. He was a member of the United States Marine Corpfrom 1952 to 1960. He worked as a butcher in his early years at the old Huntt and Ryon Store in Waldorf then to A&P and finally retiring from Super Fresh Grocery Store after 40 years. He volunteered his time at the Waldorf Fire Department and Christ Church of Accokeek for many years. He loved gardening (Ma and Pa's Home Grown Produce), Nascar races and spending time with family and friends. He was the kindest, most caring person who would do anything for anyone. A true gentleman who was the loving rock of his family's life.

Born March 21, 1929, in Waldorf, MD, he was the son of the late Norbert Damon Pickeral and the late Violet Ofield Penn Pickeral.

Survived by his wife of 59 years Beatrice Lucille Pickeral; daughter, Mary Catharine Pickeral of Waldorf, MD; sons, Steven Earl and his wife Sandra Darlene Pickeral; Mark Pickeral of Waldorf, MD; three grandchildren whom adored him, Justin Earl Pickeral, T yler Lee Pickeral and Holli Nicole Ramey Pickeral; sisters, Vivian Holt of Waldorf, MD; Marilyn Stevens of Potomac Heights, MD; Joyce Pickeral of Waldorf, MD; brother, Kenneth Pickeral of Nanjemoy, MD; two wonderful aunts, Susie Willett and Lil Padgett as well as numerous friends.

Visitation will be Monday, May 11, 2009, 5-8PM, at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 12, 2009, 11AM, at Christ Episcopal Church, Accokeek, MD.

Rev. Brian Vanderwe will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Mark Pickeral, Justin Pickeral, J. D. Maddox, Clarence Gordon, Jim Kersey, and Jim Kersey, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Henry Clifton, Jerry McMann, Charles Vernon, Phillip Gardiner, Kenneth Pickeral, Jr., and Chris Gordon.

Military Pallbearers will be the Marine Corps Honors.

Interment will be at Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery, Accokeek, MD.
