![]() A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Monday, December 11, 2006 at 10 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD with Fr. Peter Alliata officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
Viewing and Visitation will be Sunday, December 10, 2006 from 2PM till 5 PM with a prayer service at 3PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel. Mary Bernadine Raley, 75, of Mechanicsville died on December 7, 2006 at the St. Mary's Nursing Center in Leonardtown, MD following a lengthy illness. Born February 5, 1931 in Loveville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Bernard H. Russell and Mary Elvie Johnson Russell. "Bea" as she was affectionately referred to by her family and friends, was the loving wife of the late John Barker "Jack" Raley, Sr., who she married on June 30, 1951. She was the devoted mother of Cindy Pilkerton, Debby Greenwell and her husband Larry, Bernie Raley and his wife Irene, and John B. Raley, Jr. and his wife, Missy all of Mechanicsville; her grandchildren, Michael Pilkerton, Jr., Bernie Raley, Jr., Russell Greenwell, Katie Greenwell, Jaime Raley, Ryan Raley , Brooke Raley and one great grandchild, Matthew Pilkerton. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Raley of Leonardtown, and preceded in death by her sister, Elvie (Tenny) Mae Simpson. She was a lifelong resident of St. Mary's County and a graduate of St. Mary's Academy. She enjoyed traveling and was revered for her floral arrangements and decorations. Her house was the hub of all family activities, and her greatest passion was her family and the times spent with them. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 10, 2006 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 3:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 11, 2006 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Alliata officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers for Mrs. Raley were her son John B. Raley, Jr., her grandsons Michael Pilkerton, Jr., Russell Greenwell, and Bernie Raley, Jr., and her nephews Floyd A. Raley, Jr. and William H. Simpson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Katie Greenwell, Jaime Raley, Ryan Raley and Brooke Raley. Contributions may be made to St. Mary's Nursing Center Foundation, P.O.
