Blanche Rose Allen, 94, returned to her heavenly home on December 27, 2025 after a short battle with illness. Her devotion to family and strong trust in her faith in God gave her strength during her final years.
Blanche was born to the late Harry A. Huertaido and Jeanette L. Sampson in Miami, FL. During her childhood, she developed a strong relationship with her grandmother, Albertina "Blanche" Sampson, whom which was her namesake. She spent much of her childhood living south of Boston while her mother worked in the city. Much of her childhood memories were spent cultivating a relationship with her grandmother, whom she cherished dearly. Blanche married her best friend and love of her life, Chester "Chet" Allen, on August 29, 1959 in Hartford, Connecticut. She spent the early years of their marriage raising five children with love, care, and patience. In her later working life, she spent time serving as a bus driver and limousine driver. After retiring, Chet and Blanche enjoyed traveling on cruises, spending time at their timeshare in Williamsburg, and traveling abroad. Their journey spending time living in Florida, before moving to Maryland. During these years, Blanche developed a strong belief in God and cultivated a relationship with the church that would follow her for many years. She was a devoted woman of faith who lived her beliefs through selfless service. She generously gave her time and talents to her parishes, St. Cecilia and Immaculate Heart of Mary. She also devoted her efforts to helping those in need, working at St. Mary's Caring Soup Kitchen. Blanche truly lived her belief that time spent helping others was never time wasted. Blanche is survived by her sons William J. August and Matthew J. Allen; stepson Chester A. Allen, and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Chester L. Allen; son Michael A. August, and stepdaughter Catherine L. Grassette. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated by Reverend David Beaubien on January 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Catholic Church, 2800 Washington Street, Leonardtown, Maryland. Internment will take place at a later date at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery to be with her beloved husband.
