Janette Rose Showalter, of Nanjemoy, Maryland, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at the age of 89. She was born on May 24, 1936, to Claude and Hazel Hasson.

In her younger years, Janette worked briefly at a soda fountain, a time she remembered fondly. It was not long after that she met the love of her life, Francis Meredith Showalter Jr. They married and together built a life centered on family, raising six children and creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love.

Janette adored spending time with her children and grandchildren. Family was always at the heart of everything she did. She could often be found in the kitchen, surrounded by little hands and big smiles, making fudge with the kids and turning everyday moments into lasting memories. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, stories, and unconditional love.

She is survived by her children Francis Allen Showalter, Carolyn Irene Petrillo, Teresa Maria Hampton, and Janette Lee English; her brother Franklin Hasson; and her sister Claudette. Janette is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Frankie Showalter, Tammy Showalter, Sam Craddock, Claude Showalter, David Showalter, Aaron Showalter, Darron Showalter, Christina Hampton, Patty Bowen, Jenn Blas, Stacy Washington-Paige, and Timmy English, as well as 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Hazel Hasson; her beloved husband, Francis Meredith Showalter Jr.; her son Claude Eugene Showalter; her daughter Patricia Ellen Craddock; and her siblings James Hasson, Claude Hasson, Dale Allen Hasson, and Betty.

Janette Rose Showalter will be remembered for her devotion to family, her gentle spirit, and the love she shared so freely with all who knew her. Her legacy lives on through the many generations who were blessed to call her Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma.

To honor Janette's wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family invites you to please privately celebrate Janette's memory in your own ways. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.
