![]() Margaret "Sis" Jeanette Sears Smith, 78, of Prince Frederick, died May 4, 2009 at Calvert County Nursing Center, following a period of declining health. She was born January 3, 1931 in Paris, now part of Owings, to William Stanley and Nellie Lee Walton Sears.
She was educated in Calvert County public schools, and married Kirwin Bryant Smith April 12, 1947 at Forestville Methodist Parsonage, Forestville, MD. She was employed as an EKG Technician at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, and retired in 1995 after 32 years of service. She cherished spending time with her loving family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking sweet treats for her family, friends and for the St. Leonard Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary bake sales. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Huntingtown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kirwin Bryant Smith, her son Edward Stanley Smith, and great-granddaughter Vivian M. Wood. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy E. Katz of Prince Frederick, son-in-law John A. Katz of Huntingtown, son Donald K. Smith Sr. and wife Terry of Huntingtown, daughter Mary Lee Ouditt and husband Roheet of Bemidji, MN; grandchildren Arnol Lee Freeman and wife Debbie of Huntingtown, Elizabeth L. Kyle of Dunkirk, Bryant L. Freeman and wife Kim of Pasadena, MD, Donald K. Smith Jr. and wife Jennifer of Huntingtown, Kristen L. Moser and husband Dan of Vista, CA, Donald D. Wood and wife Lacy of Savannah, GA, Edward A. Wood and wife Lynda of Lusby, Natasha D. Oelrich and husband Chris of Bemidji, MN; brother William L. Sears and wife Mary of Owings; brother-in-law Edward H. Smith Jr. of Prince Frederick; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends. Viewings will be Thursday May 7, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Rausch Funeral Home, P.A., 8325 Mt. Harmony Lane, Owings, MD, where funeral services will be held Friday May 8, 2009, at 11:00 AM. Pastor Willie Davis, Calvert Hospice Chaplain, will officiate. Interment will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Barstow. Pallbearers will be Arnol Lee Freeman, Bryant L. Freeman, Donald K. Smith, Jr., Edward Anthony Wood, Carl Lee Freeman and George Edward Sturgess. Arrangements provided by Rausch Funeral Home. |
