Sylvia Rebecca Joy Pankake, 83, of Waldorf, MD, died April 26, 2009, at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, Charlotte Hall, MD.

Mrs. Pankake was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's Piney; loved antiques, flower gardening, sewing; being with friends and family; always helping others in need especially her family. Best friends her entire life with sister-in-law, Estelle DeMarr, whom she considered her sister.

Born October 27, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Claude Leroy DeMarr and the late Irene Elizabeth DeMarr.

Predeceased by her parents; husbands, Augustine Fitzwilliam and John H. Pankake, Sr.; son, James Thomas Pankake; daughter, Joy Annette Fox; brother, Raymond DeMarr; sister, Olive Smith.

Survived by sons, Michael D. and his wife Vivian Fitzwilliam, Hobbs, New Mexico; John H. and his wife Sarah Pankake, Mechanicsville, MD; daughters, Terry Fitzwilliam, Mechanicsville, VA; Michelle and her husband William Riley, Gum Spring, VA; Mary and her husband Michael Ransone, Goochland, VA; Dawn Pankake, Tahiti; brothers, George Leroy DeMarr and his wife Estelle; Charles DeMarr; Paul DeMarr; 20 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 11AM to 1PM, Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD 20646, where a funeral service will begin at 1PM. Rev. Mark Roberson will officiate. Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens.
