Margaret Lynn Carroll, age 99, of Avenue, MD, was lifted quietly to her heavenly home on June 10, 2025. She was born Margaret Jo Lynn on February 9, 1926, to the late Effie Jane Berry Lynn and Joseph Bradford Lynn in Jackson County, Tennessee. She was the youngest of six children. Her siblings, Grider Lynn, Jessie Mabrey, Barbara Boyd, Claude Kenneth Lynn, and Kermith Lynn, all predeceased her.

On November 27, 1958, Margaret married Joseph Benjamin Carroll, Jr. in Washington, D.C. He was the love of her life! They shared forty years together before he preceded her in death on August 22, 1999.
Margaret has four children who love her dearly. Linda Anne Carroll Miedzinski (Mike Mahaffey) of Avenue, MD, Susan Elaine Carroll Wenner (Jimmy Lakin) of Jefferson, MD, Deborah Jane Carroll of Avenue, MD, and Duane Anthony Carroll (Cindy) of Leonardtown, MD.

Her six grandchildren brought her much happiness: Katelyn Laine Wenner, Laura Chelsea Wenner Marsal (John), Adam Travis Miedzinski (Amanda), Ryan Christopher Miedzinski, Duane Nicholas Carroll (Caitlin), and John Benjamin Carroll. She loved having them visit and taught them about the farm.

She loved her great grandchildren too! She was 93 years old when they started coming. Blakely Rayne Miedzinski, Sunny Harlynn Miedzinski, Claire Elaine Marsal, Jake Collins Marsal, Lindsey Mae Guy, Kelsey Jane Guy, and Charles Jerome Guy III.

Margaret loved being with family. She had the biggest heart and would do anything for them. She had a lot of hobbies and crafted gifts often. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed prom and homecoming, fire department installation dresses, and most of our clothes growing up. Every year she planted a new plant in the garden, to gain a new perspective, a new craft, a new taste. She instilled a love for learning and being adventurous. Margaret loved to travel. Dad took her home to Tennessee once or twice a year and we continued that after he passed for many years. She loved taking bus trips and did three to four per year until age 92. When she was 93, we took our last trips. She walked Luray Caverns, the path to Chincoteague Lighthouse, the Western MD train ride, and the covered bridges of Frederick, MD.

When Margaret graduated high school, she taught eight grades in a one-room schoolhouse in Tennessee. The next year she moved in with her sister Jessie's family in Detroit, Michigan and worked retail. After a few years she moved to Washington, D.C. with sister Barbara's family and got a job with the Federal Government. That is where she met Joe in 1958. They married six months later and bought the farm in 1962. She dearly loved the farm and worked diligently to manage it while Dad worked long hours in D.C.

For many years, Margaret was an avid volunteer with the 7th District Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Holy Angels Church and School, and the ACTS program.

Most of all, Margaret had a deep faith in God. She kept her Bible at her bedside and was a faithful member of Holy Angels Parish for over 60 years.

She has left us with many wonderful memories!

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD, with Rev. Kevin Fields officiating. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are her great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Margaret's memory may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's.
