Deborah "Debbie" Sue Owen, 62, of Hollywood, Maryland passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on June 12th, 2025. She was born in Norfolk, VA on December 14th, 1962, to Harry and Barbara Horn. Her father served in the U.S. Navy and relocated to St. Mary's County when Debbie was a young child.

She graduated from Leonardtown High School in 1980 and married her high school sweetheart, Charles, on February 21st, 1981. She worked in D.C. for the Department of Education and later joined the Department of Defense as a Human Resources Specialist at Patuxent River Naval Base. After the birth of her third child, Debbie decided to stay at home to raise her young children, working as an in-home daycare provider and cashier at night, until they enrolled in elementary school. She then returned to work for the Department of Defense until her retirement in 2019 after 30 years of service.

Debbie was a very giving person who cared for others more than herself. She would often start conversations with random people in stores or restaurants to brighten their day. She enjoyed the simple things in life, such as camping, putting together puzzles, and reading books about life in the past. Her favorite time of year was Christmas. She loved the lights, decorations, trees, and worked really hard to find personalized gifts for the ones she loved. She loved traveling to her favorite beach in St. Pete Beach, Fl to relax in the calm, clear, blue waters of the Gulf or pressing her luck at a casino. Most importantly, she loved Pepsi.

Debbie was a loving wife and dedicated mother and grandmother. She was very proud of her family and would put them ahead of her own wants and needs without hesitation. She supported her husband, children and grandchildren in everything they did. She made sure Charles came home to a warm dinner every day after work. She spent summers at the baseball field and cheered them on from the heat of her car during the colder months. In her later years, she could still be seen cheering on her grandchildren in their various extracurricular activities.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Charles, and their three children and their spouses. Charlie Owen (Heather), Kelly Sapp (Ryan), and Greg Owen (Brittany); and their 10 grandchildren, Charlie III, Morgan, Jackson & Hailey Owen; Aria, Avery & Allie Sapp and Addison, Memphis & Harper Owen. She is also survived by her mother, Barbara Horn, and her siblings, Harry Horn (Laurita), Michael Horn (Dottie), Terrie Johnson (Donnie), Scott Horn (Sherrie), and her mother-in-law, Susie Owen and brother-in-law Robby Owen (Tammy). Along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Horn and father-in-law, Ernest Owen.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Interment will be private.
