Ronald Joseph Redding, our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed peacefully at his home in Hollywood Maryland on the morning of June 6, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born on December 2, 1937, in Washington DC, the son of Stanley Redding and Violet Davis, one of a family of 4. He attended and graduated from McKinley Technology High School in Washington DC. In his early years he served in the National Guard and started what would eventually be his career at Plumbers Local 5 where he would eventually also serve as a welding instructor for over 30 years contributing to the education of many. When he met Gene Marie Hunt, he knew he had found the love of his life. Ronnie and Gene married and welcomed seven children into their lives. Their first child was David, followed by Teresa, Steven, Kenny, Heather, Gene, and Cathy.

He was first and forever a devoted family person and always put his family first, all of whom he loved dearly. Ronnie had a passion to learn and understand the world around him. He enjoyed science and had a love for the outdoors. His joy was spending time with his family camping and fishing. Early in their family life, between work and teaching class, Ronnie would spend his weekends and spare time building a home for his family in Charlotte Hall Maryland. Ronnie eventually retired after 30 plus years of work and teaching and enjoyed his time sailing the boats, he would refurbish himself. Ronnie was best known as a consummate learner who cared deeply for his family, his strong work ethic and spending time on the water. Ronnie wisely noted "out here on the water, your cares are carried away by the wind."

Ronnie was survived by his wife of 66 years, Gene; his children: David his wife Jill and their three children, Teresa her husband Paul and two children, Steven, Kenny his wife Hora and one child, Heather her husband Ryan and three children, Gene his wife Antoinette and their two children, and their youngest daughter Cathy, his 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. The family welcomes friends on Wednesday at 10 a.m., June 18, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, at 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617 for the funeral service.
