William (Bill) Guy Ward, a devoted father, adoring grandfather, and proud U.S. Army veteran, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on May 23, 1947, to the late Robert Charles Ward and Mary Ward (maiden name Katock), Bill lived a life marked by dedication, quiet strength, and deep love for his family.

Bill honorably served his country in the United States Army, earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Sharpshooter Badge. His patriotism and love of country were unwavering, shining through in both word and deed.

After his military service, Bill built a long and respected career as an auto parts manager. Known for his reliability and knowledge, he formed lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike. In his personal time, Bill enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching sports (especially Washington Redskins), and spending time with his family and grandchildren, especially sunny weekends around the pool. He loved all animals and spoiled many pets throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deborah Joan Ward, who passed in 2016, and by his parents. Together, Bill and Deb raised two daughters: Kimberly M. Summers of Mechanicsville, who along with her husband Donald, had the honor of caring for him during his twilight years, and Valerie J. Watson (Brian) of Brandywine, who carry on his legacy of love.

Bill is survived by his cherished grandchildren—Anthony Lloyd, Samantha Summers, Leo Watson (Hope), and Shelby Summers—who will remember Pop-Pop for his generosity, his sense of humor, and the pride he took in their accomplishments.

In keeping with Bill's wishes, interment will be private. His life was one of humble service, deep love, and unwavering dedication to family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
