Norma Jean Hall
January 30, 1963 - April 20, 2025

Norma Jean Hall, 62, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, went to her eternal home with Jesus on April 20, 2025, at home with loved ones by her side. She was born on January 30, 1963, in La Plata, Maryland, to John Ralph Hall and Betty June (Jones) Hall.

Norma graduated from McDonough High School in 1981. She cherished every moment spent as a loving mother to her two children. Norma met the love of her life, John Raymond Smith, in 1996. From that moment on, the two were inseparable. The pair were perfect for each other and spent over twenty years building a beautiful life together.

Above all, Norma treasured being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love for her grandchildren was boundless, and the time spent with them brought her the greatest joy. Whether it was spontaneous trips to Bert's for ice cream, wild and laughter-filled rides on her golf cart, or cheering louder than anyone else from the sidelines of their games and events, Norma was the heart of every moment. Her fun-loving spirit, boundless energy, and unwavering support created a lifetime of memories that her grandchildren will carry with them always. Her fun-loving spirit lives on in their stories, their smiles, and the joy she so freely gave.

Norma took great pleasure in spending time outdoors, caring for her yard, and basking in the sunshine. Norma had a generous spirit and devoted herself to helping others, always finding ways to give back to the community she loved. Norma had a gift for making everyone feel welcome—she never met a stranger. Her kindness, listening ear, and comforting presence were always there for those who needed it the most.

She is survived by her mother, Betty; her son, David Mitchell (Kelsey Daugherty); and her daughter, Amber (Dennis) Sherman. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—Taylor Mitchell, Autumn Sherman, Brooke Sherman, Aubrey Mitchell, Harper Mitchell, DJ Sherman, and Nora Mitchell—as well as her great-grandchild, Jayden Somerville. Additionally, she is remembered by her siblings, John Hall and Nancy Burch, along with many cherished aunts, nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and friends.
