A funeral service will be held at Stuhr's Funeral Home in Charleston, SC which will be announced at a later date.

Public visitation will be held in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home on Monday, November 27, 2006 from 6 - 8 PM with a Prayer Service at 7PM.

Rise Yon Carter, 49, of Leonardtown, MD formerly of Charleston, SC died November 24, 2006 in Washington, DC.

Born April 19, 1957 in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of Marion J. and Ellen Yon Jr. of Charleston, SC. She was the loving wife of Harold H. Carter whom she married on June 14, 1975 in Old St. Andrew's Church, Charleston, SC.

She is survived by her children: Nichole Y. and Brandi E. Carter both of Leonardtown, MD; siblings: Marion J. Yon, III, Randy E. Yon and Rhonda Y. Hair all of Charleston, SC and 2 grandchildren.

Mrs. Carter graduated from Middleton High School Class of 1973. She received and Associate Degree in Fashion Merchandizing. Rise moved to St. Mary's County from Charleston, SC in October of 1995 where she was employed by the St. Mary's County Government as an Assistant to the County Administrator.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 27, 2006 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where a Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 PM. The family will also be receiving friends on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Funeral Home, 232 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 2:00 PM in the Old St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Charleston, SC with interment to follow in the Church Cemetery.
