George was born on September 22, 1962, in Washington, D.C. and passed away on March 27, 2025, in La Plata, Maryland.

A lifelong resident of Waldorf, George was a proud graduate of Thomas Stone High School's Class of 1980, and later earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Maryland. He dedicated many years of his career to Giant Food, where his warm and friendly personality made him a favorite among both coworkers and customers. His genuine kindness and welcoming nature left a lasting impression on everyone he met. In addition to his time at Giant, he also worked as an investment banker for various firms over the years, further showcasing his dedication and strong work ethic.

Upon retiring after over 40 years, George enjoyed spending time with his family at his happy place in North Topsail Beach, NC, where he built his dream home. He loved spending time outdoors building projects and maintaining the yard, often cutting the grass multiple times a week.

No matter the season, you could always count on him to have a fire burning, whether it was a chilly evening or the middle of summer. His love for the simple joys in life brought warmth to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, George Anderson & Lenora Vann, and his daughter, Vanessa Vann. He is survived by the mother of his children, Diann Vann; his children, Brittany Santos (Matthew), Brandon Vann, George (Chris) Vann II, & Joshua Vann; his cherished grandsons, Luke & Milo (with another grandson on the way); his precious puppy Toby; his brother, Stephen Vann; his sisters, Susan Brooks (Jack), Darlene Huntt (Joseph), Mary Toohey (Rodney), and many nieces and nephews.

His life was a testament to dedication, hard work, and the simple joys that make life beautiful. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In honor of one of George's final wishes, a trust fund has been established to support his family and future generations in pursuing education and hard work—values he deeply believed in. To contribute to the George C. Vann Work and Education Trust Fund, please visit http://ffnd.co/YyTDFv
