Mike Lacey

James Michael (Mike) Lacey, 66, of Avenue, MD, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. The loving son of Agnes Marie Hayden and James Edward (Jim Ed) Lacey, and stepson of Elbert Hayden, Mike was born on November 30, 1958. He was the grandson of Robert and Estelle Farrell and George Albert and Gertrude Lacey.

Mike attended Holy-Angels Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Chopticon High School. Mike was a valued employee of the St. Mary's Nursing Home in Leonardtown, MD for 45 years as a maintenance supervisor. He retired from the nursing home in 2020.

Mike also owned his own antiques and collectibles shops in Charlotte Hall, MD and King George, VA.
Mike attended Mass each Sunday, often at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bushwood, MD.

Always the devoted son, Mike could be counted on to help his mother, Agnes, with anything she needed, including the maintenance of her beautiful home and yard, all while keeping his own home looking like something from a lawn and garden magazine. He was a friend to so many people and everyone loved and appreciated his kind heart. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

Mike is survived by his mother, Agnes, his stepmother, Charlotte Lacey, his stepsiblings, Tina Nelson of Clements, MD, Diane Lacey of Loveville, MD, Kathy Cameron of Conroe, TX, and Allen Lacey of Chaptico, MD, as well as his uncle, Clyde Farrell (Jeryle), aunts, Barbara A. Lacey and Barbara Jean Lacey, his nieces and nephews, and many, many cousins.

In addition to his father, Jim Ed, and stepfather, Elbert, Mike was preceded in death by the following aunts and uncles: Bobby and Luvia (Lou) Farrell, Francis Farrell, Joe and Mildred Lacey, Helen and George Seymour, Elizabeth (Puddin) and Ross Huseman, George E. (Dinks) and Phyllis Lacey, Eleanor and Lloyd Russell, Thomas and Loraine Lacey, William Lacey, Loraine and Johnny Hall, Stevie and Louise (Farrell) Lacey, Bobby Lacey, Frances Lacey Duke, Frankie Lacey, and special cousin, Pat Vallandingham.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD, with Father Kevin Fields officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Brown, Robert Farrell, Patrick Farrell, Kim Bailey, Allen Lacey, and Angel Claudio. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Lacey, Melvin Farrell, Brian Russell, Joe Goldsborough, Bill Lacey, and Keith Smallwood.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church, Avenue, MD and/or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD.
