![]() Henry Lee Harmon Jr. of Mechanicsville, MD, born November 22, 1939, went to Heaven on January 30th, 2025, at the age of 85. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, to Henry L. Harmon, Sr., and Dorothy L. Zengraft.
Hank was a devoted and loving husband to Gail F. Harmon and father to Don K. Eckel and Bambi H. Mattingly. A grandfather to Holly K. Harmon, Dustin K. Eckel, and Brandon Eckel and great-grandfather to Zayden Henry Elliott and Gideon. Hank was the oldest brother of 5, preceded by: William Harmon (Billy), Kurt Harmon, John Harmon (Johnny), and Robert S. Harmon (Bobby). He was loved dearly by his maternal Grandmother (Mom) and his Aunt Agnus (Ag). Hank served in the Marines, worked at the Navy Research Laboratory, and was the proud entrepreneur of Vulancan Engineering and Manufacturing. Growing up in Baltimore and then Accokeek, he worked as a child on tobacco farms and loved to tell stories of eating a whole stick of butter, like a lollipop, when he had the chance. In his former life, he was a little wild, known for his ponytail, poker games, motorcycle riding, and embellished storytelling. Later in life, Hank continued his storytelling and kept the ponytail for some time. He became a church member and took great joy in reading the Bible thoroughly and often. Hank was actively involved in Trinity Church of the Nazarene (where he was known to many as "Grandpa Hank") and LifeStream Church of the Nazarene. He found God in nature and shared that with those close to him. Hank was a prayer warrior and witness to countless souls, young and old, throughout his life, he never met a stranger, had many friends, and was always willing to sit and talk with anyone. Hank is love and loved to love, showing his love through generosity, hugs, dancing, the "double-handed Hank wave," and telling the silliest jokes just to get you to smile. In all the things he did, his wife, Gail was first and foremost. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 8th, 2025, at the LifeStream Church of the Nazarene in Waldorf, Maryland. Beginning with a visiting time at 11 a.m., service at noon, followed by a shared meal and memories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LifeStream Church of the Nazarene in Waldorf, Maryland. |
