James Roy Morgan Jr 78 of Leonardtown MD formerly of Clearwater FL passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 10 2025 at St Marys Hospital Leonardtown MD Born on March 30 1946 in Leonardtown MD he was the son of the late James Roy Morgan Sr and the late Margaret Louise Quade Morgan Roy is survived by his siblings Dennis Morgan Sandy Jean Nelson Donnie Steve Morgan Cindy of Mechanicsville MD Gail White Roger of Abell MD Kathy Guy of Leonardtown MD and Kevin Morgan Lisa Wyant of Chaptico MD his stepdaughters Debbie Kollar Joe of Abell MD and Wendy Long Tony of Mechanicsville MD his stepson Allen Modlin of Little Hocking OH his sisterinlaw Mary Frances Wheeler Bryant of Easton MD seven nieces two nephews six great nieces eight great nephews one greatgreat nephew eight step grandchildren 13 step greatgrandchildren one step greatgreat granddaughter and his loyal fur baby Roxy In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 29 years Barbara Ann Sullivan Morgan his brother Glenn Morgan his brotherinlaw Bobby Guy his nephewinlaw Charles Greenwell his greatnephew Steven Alan Cusic Jr and his stepson Kenny Modlin

Roy was a lifelong resident of St Marys County MD except for his stay in Clearwater FL almost 20 years Roy graduated from Margaret Brent High School in Morganza MD class of 1964 He worked for Southern Maryland Electric Coop SMECO in Charles County MD from September 1967 to June 2003 and retired as chief lineman with 36 years of service In his younger days you could find him on the softball field at Hills Club cranking out the long ball drinking a Miller Lite and earning the nickname of Big Foot While he was in Clearwater he mastered the game of shuffleboard and naturally being from St Marys County he was always up for a good pitch game playing poker eating hard crabs oysters and stuffed ham and sitting around talking about the good old days Whether in Florida or Maryland you could always find him doing yard work or passing time at the local bingo hall

Roy was a gentle giant with a heart to match He loved spending time with family especially the little ones He was deeply loved by all and we will miss him so much at our family gatherings We will cherish the memories we made together and hold him close to our hearts until we meet again Please watch over us from above and rest in eternal peace brother

The family will receive friends on Sunday March 16 2025from 200 PM to 500 PM with prayers recited at 400 PM in the MattingleyGardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown MD A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday March 17 2025 at 1000 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Bushwood MD with Father Paul Nguyen officiating Interment will follow at the church cemetery Serving as pallbearers will be his brothers Steve Morgan and Kevin Morgan his nephews JF Noodles Nelson and Jason Guy and stepgrandsons Michael Scott and Myles Long Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his brother Dennis Morgan his sisters Jean Nelson Gail White and Kathy Guy his brothersinlaw Donnie Nelson Roger White and his stepgranddaughter Emily Long
