On Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 2:27 p.m. Rose Migyon Reddicks Boyd, age 79 was called home from Civista Medical Center, La Plata, Maryland. Rose was born on February 2, 1930 at 2573 McCulloh Street, Baltimore Maryland to the late Charles Holbart Reddicks and the late Edith Louise Coles Reddicks. She received her education in the Baltimore City public schools graduating from Carver Vocational Technical School in 1948. In 1950, she enlisted into the Air Force and was stationed at Kirkland AFB, New Mexico. She reunited with and married her high school sweetheart Nathaniel Boyd, Sr. in 1953 and earned her honorable discharge from the military in April 1954. In her 56 years marriage came forth, two children, Nathaniel Boyd, Jr. and Carla V. Boyd, a grand-daughter, Migyon T. Boutte' and a great-grandson, Taurean R. Porter. Rose had many interest. While stationed at Kirkland AFB (New Mexico), she played on the baseball team. She enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout his military career. They traveled to Alaska, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Las Vegas, Nevada, New Orleans, Louisiana and other places. She especially enjoyed New Orleans. Rose loved shopping with her daughter, Sunday brunches with her son and also dancing. She was great at "jitterbugging" today its called hand dancing. When she was younger, she and the "Sugar Hill Gang" would go out to the Tin Can dance . As a career woman, she was employed by the Federal government, as a secretary, administrative specialist. She received outstanding awards of recognition and meritorious service. Working at Andrews AFB, from 1973 - 1985 she retired as a personnel specialist after 31 years of dedicated faithful federal civil service. Rose also worked as a volunteer as an assistant librarian, at the Eva Turner Elementary School where her grand-daughter (Migyon) attended school. Rose was an active member of Greater Mt. Nebo A.M.E. Church, serving as a stewardess for numerous years. As a stewardess, she received great joy in dressing the alter for communion, serving on Communion Sunday and attending baptisms. Rose was a dedicated, committed and loyal servant of the Lord. She loved her church, but most of all she loved God and doing things that were pleasing to him. She was passionate about reading and studying his word. She faithfully attended weekly bible study. The members of Greater Mt. Nebo were also special to Rose. She had many friends at the church and their fellowship with each other extended beyond the four walls of the church. Rose had numerous friends wherever she went. Her warm smile and gently manner made everyone feel special. She was also always full of energy and encouragement towards friends and family. She touched so many hearts. Her friends and family loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Nathaniel Boyd Sr.; son, Nathaniel Boyd Jr.; daughter, Carla V. Boyd; grand-daughter, Migyon T. Boutte'; great-grandson, Taurean R. Porter; one sister, Fannie Harris, three sisters-in-law, Wilie Mae Alston, Phyllis Boyd, and Alease Reddicks; five brothers-in-law, John Boyd, Clyde Boyd, Clarence Boyd, J. D. Alston and Edwin Harris; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Viewing, 9:00 am until time of Funeral Service, 11:00 am on Friday, April 24, 2009 at Greater Mt.
