![]() David East Haney, 69, of Saint Leonard, MD, passed away peacefully at the Charles County Hospice House on February 10, 2025. He was born July, 7, 1955 in Norfolk, VA to Raymond Earl Haney, Sr. and Norma Claire Haney (East). David's father was in the Navy, so the family spent time at various Naval bases in Virginia, Illinois, California and Florida before settling in Town Creek, MD after his father retired from the Navy and began working at the Patuxent Naval Base for the Department of the Navy as a civil servant. David attended and graduated from Great Mills High School in 1973. He joined the Army on February 5, 1975 and was honorably discharged on February 3, 1978 after serving abroad in Germany as a nuclear warhead technician. After leaving the Army, he traveled to Lake Tahoe where is lived for 10 years. He joined his older brother working at his cabinet business called Woodstock Cabinets. In the late 80's, he decided to move back to Maryland and entered Steamfitters school where he became an apprentice and eventually a journeyman with Steamfitters Union Local 602. He spent most of his years with John J. Kirlin working in the fabrication shop as a pipefitter until his retirement on January 1, 2017. David's favorite pastime was fishing. Actually, he and his wife were introduced by a friend who warned her that he loved to fish, fish, fish, and fish! Luckily, she loved to be on the water, so it was a match made in heaven. They were able to purchase his dream boat in 2014 and spent as much time as possible on their boat fishing, relaxing and enjoying the peaceful quietness of the water and sunsets. He also enjoyed working out in the yard, cooking, eating, and watching sports and old westerns. His family and friends always looked forward to the annual Maryland stuffed ham that he would make every Christmas.
David is survived by his wife, Jeannette Haney (Amonett), brothers, Raymond Earl Haney, Jr. (Hildalia), Robert Michael Haney and his nephews and nieces, Ryan Haney, Chad Haney, Elizabeth McVey, Maisy Haney, Bobbie Haney, Wyatt Haney and Quinn Haney. He is preceded in death by his father Raymond Earl Haney, Sr., mother Norma Claire Haney and his sister Carol Joan Haney McVey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation or to the Hospice of the Chesapeake where David spent his final days at the Charles County Inpatient Hospice Center.
