Rouell "Roy" Lopez
October 15, 1957 – February 4, 2025

Rouell "Roy" Anthony Lopez, passed away on February 4, 2025, after a valiant battle with Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). He was born on October 15, 1957 to Frank and Esmerelda Lopez in Manhattan, New York. He spent a good portion of his early years in Florida where his passion for both deejaying and the Florida Gators originated. He then traveled the U.S. as a Bartlett Health Physics Technician until moving to Maryland in 1990 and beginning his career at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant. Second, only to the love he had for his family, was the immense pride he had working in the nuclear field for over 40 years and the many life-long friendships he made. He loved the beach, walking miles in search of that perfect seashell with Kylie, jet-skiing, music, movies, animals and children. He was proud to support community service and non-profit events, especially those benefiting cancer patients and anything that would help to put a smile on a child's face. Hospice Festival of Trees, Halloween and Holiday fundraisers (dressing up as Groot/Captain America Minion/Elf), Relay for Life, Farming 4 Hunger, and the American Red Cross were a few of his favorite events.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Susie (Dow) and daughter Kylie Alise; siblings Bob & Kelley Dow; Sherry Gold; Jerry & Dia Dow; Jody & Gina Jafari; Susan Dow, and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom he cherished, and Mocha Latte, a kitty who brought a lot of sass and joy into his world.

He would want to thank the phenomenal medical staff who worked so hard to help him on this : Dr. Eric Berg, Dr. Rheena Thomas, CalvertHealth Oncology, as well as the entire Infusion Center staff, and the entire Johns Hopkins team.

In lieu of flowers, feel free to honor Roy by making a donation to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation ( Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation) or any animal rescue or children's program that is close to your heart.
