Kenneth "Kenny" Paul Stanhope, 72, of North Beach, MD passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2024. His memory will be cherished in the hearts of his family, friends and all he encountered over his 72 years of life.

Born April 14, 1952 in Takoma Park, MD, Kenny spent most of his days in Prince George's County and Calvert County. By trade he was a printer and business owner. To those that knew him best, he was the life of the party and keeper of good times.

Known for his infectious smile and hearty laugh, Kenny could always bring joy to your day. A unique soundtrack was on play at all times in his mind. If you tuned in, you might hear him humming a familiar Van Morrison melody or Kenny Paul original. Exceptionally outgoing, he never knew a stranger, especially if they were a Washington Redskins fan.

Ken didn't just watch football, he actively and loudly participated in every play and call from his lounger in front of the TV. He'd frequently say "This is the best seat in the house!". His other passions were spoiling his grandchildren and hunting the most "fantastic" deals. He made an art of surveying his local grocery stores far and wide for the best bargains in order to craft delicious meals for his army of a family.

It was at Varsity Grill in College Park, MD 50 years ago that Kenny used his patented charm, long hair and strikingly big blue eyes to catch the attention of Lurah Stanhope (then Sparacino), his wife. Carrying on Kenny's legacy is Lurah and the family they created together: his daughter Kari Pompilii (Marc Pompilii) of Huntingtown, MD; and 5 grandchildren Shelby Buster (Daniel Buster) of Winter Garden, FL, Brooke Stanhope of Huntingtown, MD, Lexi Stanhope of Davenport, FL, and Tyler Pompilii of Chesapeake Beach, MD. Welcoming Kenny to his heavenly home is his grandson, Tyler Stanhope (predeceased).

A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion in Chesapeake Beach from 2pm-5pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests you donate to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
