Margaret Anne Lee, 65, of Colonial Beach, VA passed away on December 12, 2024 surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Leonardtown, MD, Anne was 1 of 7 brothers and sisters. Throughout her childhood, she was active in various 4H activities which taught her various crafts; one of which in particular she excelled at, sewing. Throughout life, Anne's skill as a seamstress developed to the point that she could create anything with a sewing machine. Ranging from creating and fitting wedding dresses and bridal wear, custom drapery for the house, making her kids Halloween costumes and dance recital outfits, to even creating custom boat canvases, and many other things.
Anne was a devoted mother and grandmother and was the epitome of what it means to be a great parent. Upon having her three children, she missed nothing. She would carry the kids back and forth to various sporting events, dance recitals, school plays, band concerts, and so on. Anne carried on this same passion and devotion as "Mema" to her grandchildren. Once retired, she took advantage of every opportunity to travel wherever she needed to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Anne understood the importance of family and strived to be a constant presence in their lives; doing everything she could to attend birthdays, graduations, dance recitals, softball games for Kaelyn, hockey games for Holden, ice skating sessions with her youngest granddaughter Hanalei, and any other special occasion that came up. Always supportive, kind, and patient, Anne set the bar for what it takes to be an amazing daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be greatly missed by anyone that had the pleasure to know her.
Once Anne met her husband, Jeff, she moved to Colonial Beach where she took on Jeff's love of boating and they became members of the Colonial Beach Yacht Club. Boating activities included spending weekends on the water cruising around and taking the kids and grandchildren out, fishing, and tying up with other boats to enjoy a relaxing day on the water. There were also longer boat trips all around the river where they would travel to various marinas for overnight stays. Outside of boating, they would also travel to the Outer Banks where they would spend time with friends.
Anne is preceded in death by her father, Leroy Williams.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff Lee; children, Lauren Sapikowski (Chris), Glenn Woodburn, and Andrew Woodburn; grandchildren, Kaelyn Sapikowski, Holden Sapikowski, and Hanalei Woodburn; mother, Margaret Williams; sister, Joy Sapp (Ray); brothers, Keith Williams (Annette), Walt Williams (Ann), Dale Williams (Debbie), Mark Williams, and Chris Williams (Stacey); sisters-in-law, Becky Lee (Phil) and Sharon Lee (Steve); brother-in-law, Larry Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 6-8pm at Storke Funeral Home, Colonial Beach, 131 3rd Street, Colonial Beach, VA.
