Larry James Trader, Sr., 87, of Leonardtown, MD passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, with his loving family at his side.

He was born on July 1, 1937 in Parkersburg, WV to the late Frank Trader and Eva Jane Thompson Trader.

Larry grew up in several small towns in western West Virginia and is a 1955 graduate of Spencer High School in Spencer, WV. On June 4, 1957 he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country until his Honorable Discharge in June 1960. In 1960 he began his career with the Department of Defense at the Washington Navy Yard which led to Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida and finally to Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, where he retired in 1993 after 36 dedicated years as a skilled Logistics Analyst. On May 12, 1962 he married his beloved wife, Bonnie Jean Trader at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cheverly, MD. Together they celebrated over 62 years of marriage with three sons filled with many wonderful memories spent as a family. As his sons grew up, he coached sports and enjoyed watching their games. He enjoyed time spent travelling, fishing, bowling, camping trips, and playing golf. After retiring, he and Bonnie spent their winters in Florida enjoying the warm weather, but always came home in the spring to be near their growing family and enjoy their grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spend time with family at their condo in Ocean City. He is a long-time member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie and sons: Larry Trader, Jr. (Valerie) of Leonardtown, MD, Steven Trader (Lisa) of Ridgeley, WV, Michael Trader of Leonardtown, MD, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his siblings, Glenna Kincaid, Mabel Stalnaker, Virginia Mahoney, Paul Trader and Frank Trader.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a Service celebrated by Reverend Edward Hegnauer at 11:00 a.m., at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Interment will follow at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, 21370 Newtowne Neck Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
