Matthew "Matt" Glenn French, 35, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away on November 27, 2024, after a two-year-long battle with Guillain-Barré syndrome. On January 20, 1989, Matt was born to Jeffrey and Krista French in Washington, DC.

Matt was a mechanical technician for Collins Mechanical Services. Matt has worked with his Uncle Russell for many years and enjoyed the relationships he made along the way.

Matt cherished moments with his daughter Kinsli, going to school events, watching her dance, and racing her Junior Dragster. He also loved spending time with his parents, including fishing outings with his dad, being protective of his little sister, and spending time with family and friends. He took great delight in playfully teasing his niece Brooklynn and teaching her bad habits.

Matt was predeceased by his uncle Tommy French, grandparents Sandy French-Holter, David Holter, Robert Moss, Sr., and great-grandparents Dot and Muril Moss. He is survived by his parents Jeff and Krista, daughter Kinsli French of Mechanicsville, MD, sister Brittany French of Mechanicsville, MD, niece Brooklynn Karmel of Mechanicsville, MD, Brittnee Fowler (Kinsli's Mom), grandmother Catherine Harris of FL, aunt Victoria Collins (Russell) of Nanjemoy MD, and uncles Robert Moss (Carin) of Hughesville, MD, Greg French (Julie) of Charlotte Hall, MD, and Kerry Wash of White Plains, MD. He is also survived by his cousins and lots of friends. Matt always said family is not always blood.

Matt also leaves many long-time friends that he met along the way from Mechanicsville Elementary School, Margaret Brent Middle School, Chopticon High School (2007), District 7 ATV (Quad) Racing, and Pool League. He enjoyed spending Saturday "Moose Days" at the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge #495 with his family and friends, playing pool with his daughter and dad, and teaching his niece how to gamble with scratch-offs and pull tabs.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for Kinsli French. A donation box will be available at the funeral home. Matt would ask you to consider registering to be an organ, eye, or tissue donor. Organ donation was very important to Matt because it was a HERO that shared his heart with his dad so Matt had 10 more years of memories with him. Donations may also be made to the Mechanicsville Rescue Squad for the care they provided to his niece Brooklynn with her seizures.

On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, the family will receive friends for the visitation from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with prayers at 7:00 pm officiated by Reverend Joe Orlando at Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Interment will be held the following day, December 11th with the procession starting at 10:00 am at the funeral home, departing at 10:30 for internment at 11:00 am at Charles Memorial Gardens, 26325 Point Lookout Rd, Leonardtown, MD 20650.

Pallbearers will be: Darrell Buckler, Frankie Hayden, Travis Hutton, James Karmel, Bryan Leonard, and Ryan Shaffer.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jeremy Fowler, Rob Moss, Russell Collins, Dave Collins, Trevor Wash, Josh Hill, and Chad Istvan.

Matt's family appreciates the outpouring of love, visits, and the heartwarming memories everyone has been sharing about their time with Matt. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Deputy Stewart (#310) of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office for his kindness and compassion during this difficult time.
