Barbara Ann Hammett, 85, of Charlotte Hall, MD passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024, at Green Acres Nursing Center in LaPlata, MD with her loving family at her side.

She was born on May 9, 1939 in Leonardtown, MD to the late Thomas Bradburn and Bertha (nee: Ridgell) Bradburn.

Barbara was born and raised in Southern Maryland and graduated from Leonardtown High School in the first graduating class. On September 6, 1958, she married her beloved husband, Joseph Carney Hammett at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Hollywood, MD. Together they celebrated 66 wonderful years of marriage. She was employed as an administrative assistant for the Charles County Sheriff's Department for many dedicated years until her retirement in 2018. Her greatest accomplishment in life was her 4 children, 5 grandchildren and most of all her great grand babies who she loved dearly, and we can't forget her fur grand baby Nikki. She loved to go for long rides and enjoyed her seafood dinners out at Captain Leonard's.

In addition to her beloved husband, Joe, Barbara is also survived by her children: Joseph Steven Hammett (Tracey) of King George, VA, Thomas Jeffrey Hammett (Kimberly) of Charlotte Hall, MD, Timothy Wayne Hammett of Charlotte Hall, MD and Bonnie Ann DeMarr (Keith) of Mechanicsville, MD; her sister, Pat Woods (Steve) of California, MD; grandchildren: Brandon Steven Hammett, Jeffrey Ignatius Abell Hammett (Sarah), Amber Marie DeMarr, Rebecca Eleanor Wood (Todd, Jr.), and Kyle Ambrose DeMarr; great-grandchildren: Abby, Noah, Lainey and Toddy; and many extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her siblings: Betty Hoff, Tommy Bradburn and Leo Bradburn.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., with a prayer service recited by Deacon Joseph Lloyd at 6:00 p.m., at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622.
