Ina Marie Underwood, 85, of La Plata, formerly of Appalachia, VA, died March 29, 2009, at Civista Medical Center.

Mrs. Underwood was a sales representative with drug stores for 32 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Christian Church of Appalachia. She enjoyed quilting, flowers, puzzles, Scrabble, reading her Bible and being with family.

Born March 20, 1924, in Inman, VA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Wallen and the late Edna Lovell Wallen.

Predeceased by her parents; husband, Howard Underwood; sister, Margie Underwood and granddaughter, Allison Mahan.

Survived by son, Herbert C. Mahan of Thayne, WY; daughter, Judith E. and her husband David Mattingly of La Plata, MD; three grandchildren, Michael Brummitt, Jennifer Kimoto and Linda Bowling. Also survived by five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 1, 2009, from 5-8PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD, and additional viewing at Green Funeral Home, Appalachia, VA on Friday, April 3, 2009, from 4-8PM.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 11AM at Green Funeral Home, Appalachia, VA.

Interment will be at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens, Big Stone Gap, VA.
