![]() Harry Frederick Gilmer, 87, of Indian Head, MD, died March 28, 2009, at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home.
Mr. Gilmer was a Powder Plant worker with the Naval Ordinance Station, Indian Head, MD, for 22 years. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion Post in Indian Head, MD, and AMVETS. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts. Born July 14, 1921, in Webster, PA, he was the son of the late Harry Gilmer and the late Goldie Weaver Gilmer. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaretta A. (Rita) Gilmer; daughters, Dee M. and her husband Arthur Stoner of Fredericksburg, VA; Becky J. and her husband Mike Sammons of Salisbury, MD; and Lynne M. and her husband O'Brien Price of La Plata, MD. Also survived by one brother, four sisters, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, from 2-4 and 6-8PM with prayers at 6:45PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, April 2, 2009, at 10AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata, MD. Fr. Jerry Gamrot will officiate. Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers will be Randy Davis, Tom Drews, Glen Gragasin, Paul DeOca, David and Jason Sammons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bryan Blankenship, Jeff Windsor and Rusty Gill and the United States Army Honor Guard.
