William Rex Newton, 68, of Chesapeake Beach passed away October 26, 2023. He was born August 27, 1955, in Washington, DC to Harold LeRoy and Margaret (Cannon) Newton. Rex was raised in Chesapeake Beach and graduated from Calvert High School. He worked as a waterman for the Abner family for many years. He also worked as a tile installer and sheet metal mechanic and most recently worked at Walmart in Dunkirk as an assembler. Rex married Ann Hanners in 1997 and they lived in Chesapeake Beach. He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing, crabbing, cooking, and baseball, especially the New York Yankees and Washington Nationals. Rex was very intelligent. He loved to make people laugh and always wanted everyone to be happy.

Rex is survived by his wife Ann Newton, brother Bobby Newton, nephews John (Heather), Michael (Kellie), Jacob, Jeremy, Braden, Liam, and Grayson, nieces Dawn, Paula, Hattie, and Lydia, sisters in law Gloria Newton, Morgan Hanners (Devin), and Amy Dick (Mark), mother and father in law Sharon and Patric Enright, mother in law Beverly Hanners, and great nephews Andrew, Ryan, Matthew, Jeremy, Nicholas, Nathan, and Dillon, and great nieces Ashlyn, Angelica, Ruth, Lucinda, Nicole, and Kate. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Chuck Hanners.
