Mary "Frances" Lewis, 97, formerly of La Plata, Maryland departed this life on October 16, 2023 in her home in Okatie, South Carolina.

Frances, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother is survived by her two children; Gregory A. Lewis and Susanne L. Wills, two grandchildren; Evan C. Lewis and Jessica A. Hensel, three great grandchildren; Seth Lewis, Paige A. Sanders and Cole Lewis, and her brother David W. Lasseter. Frances was predeceased by her husband Clifton F. Lewis, and her two sisters Ruth Smith and Lillian Leiman.

Frances was the first-born child of the late Emma and Charlie Lasseter on May 5, 1926 in Barnesville, Georgia. In 1942 moved with her parents to Indian Head, Maryland where she graduated from the old Lackey High School at the age of 16.

In March 1943 Frances went to work for the National Housing Administration. During this time she met her future husband Cliff at the local USO. They married before Cliff entered the service and went to serve during World War II with the Army. Though Frances' parents eventually relocated to Griffin Georgia, Frances remained in Indian Head with her husband. Frances worked for the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head for 43 years, retiring as an Executive Secretary to the Technical Director.

While her husband Cliff was an active member of the Masons and Shriners, Frances was active with the Eastern Star where they participated in many charity dinner functions and events and enjoyed dancing. Frances and Cliff savored the Southern Maryland lifestyle; enjoying boating, eating steamed crabs, and were famous for the many "shrimp feasts" they hosted. Frances also enjoyed her monthly "Sewing Club" get-togethers with her lady friends. Frances had an unbelievable gift of calmness and patience, and was always able point out the positive in any situation. She was always happy, enjoyed nature's beauty, and considered every new day a gift of life. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
