Linda Jane Filippini, 74, of Mechanicsville, MD formerly from Glenn Dale, MD, passed away on July 26, 2023 in Callaway, MD. Born on January 10, 1949 in Cheverly, MD, she was the daughter of the late Geraldine Morrett DePriest and Jesse DePriest. Linda was the loving wife of Carl V. Filippini, whom she married in Glenn Dale United Methodist Church on September 18, 1982. Linda cared deeply for Carl; the two were always together and took special care of one another, including their deep belief and trust in the Lord. Linda is survived by her son John A. Garland, Jr. of Crownsville, MD and her brother, Jesse R. DePriest of Glenn Dale, MD.

Linda graduated from Duval High School in 1967, and then went on to graduate from Stephen College with a Bachelor's Degree in Administration. Linda moved from Prince George's County, MD to St. Mary's County, MD in 1989. She was a Medical Records Administrator at Andrews Air Force Base, retiring after 35 years of civil service on January 31, 2011.

Linda had an affection for animals. At the top of her pet list would be her two horses, Maybe Doc and Opal. Linda gave these retired horses a forever home, and in return they gave Linda much love, joy, and happiness. It would not be unusual for Linda to be up before dawn to give them fodder. No matter the weather and no matter how she was feeling, Linda made sure her horses were taken care of. In addition to her horses, Linda had many feral cats, house cats, and dogs. She treated them with special care and unwavering love. All of her animals were in need of a second home, and Linda always found a way to say yes to all of them; a hallmark of her unbridled love for animals.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM with Father Michael Tietjen officiating. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery Helen, MD. Serving as pallbearers will be John A Garland, Jr, Donald Andrasik, Ken Housewright, Michael McCauley, Tim Miller, Adam Trossbach, and Charles Widmayer.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mechanicsville Vol. Rescue Squad, Immaculate Conceptions Catholic Church Mechanicsville, MD, SMAWL (St. Mary's Animal Welfare League) Callaway, MD, Alley Cat Allies Bethesda, MD, and Hospice of St. Mary's Callaway, MD.
