![]() Patrick Michael "Mike" Buckley, 86, of Lusby, Md. and formerly of College Park/Riverdale, Md., passed away on June 15, 2023 at his residence. Born November 11, 1936 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late James Lawrence Buckley and Margarette Juanita (Scott) Buckley.
Mike was raised in Riverdale, Md. where he attended Archbishop Carroll High School and DeMatha High School. He later joined the United States Navy in November 1953 (age 17), where he served for 4 years in the Antarctica, North Pole and other duty stations. He later joined the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department where he served for over 22 years, 5 years in the Canine Unit with his beloved dog "Duke" and the final 11 years in the Internal Affairs Division. His hobbies included camping, fishing, boating, reading, history and spending time with his family. Mike is survived by his brother Mark A. Buckley (Kathleen) and predeceased by his sister Margo A. Fisher (William). He is also survived by his children James M. Buckley (Robin), Matthew L. Buckley (Nareerat/Tuiy), M. Shannon Locke (Bill), Daniel M. Buckley (Robin), Kathleen T. Leach (Myrl) and predeceased by son, Patrick J. Buckley. Grandchildren: Richard, Caitlin, Christine, Matthew and Daniel and great-grandchildren Vincent, Skylar, Keane, Scarlett and Brielle. Mike was Godfather to his nephew Bishop Michael Fisher (St. Joseph's Cathedral, Buffalo, NY) and to his niece Tara (Buckley) Benedetti. Family will receive friends on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 225 Alexander Lane, Solomons, Md. 20688. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Bishop Michael Fisher at 11:00 AM.
