Stephen Patrick "Steve" James, 77, of Lexington Park, MD passed away peacefully on April 19, 2023, with his loving wife at his side.

He was born on January 30, 1946, in Quantico, VA to the late James Hugh James and Mae Hall James.

On January 26, 1965, Steven enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on November 4, 1968. During his service he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He spent his 26-year career working as a skilled welder for the federal government in Annapolis, MD until his retirement. On July 18, 1997, he married his beloved wife, Jackie James. Together they celebrated over 25 wonderful years of marriage. He enjoyed racing motorcycles when his sons were growing up. He collected model cars and enjoyed car shows. He was a collector of many antiquities and enjoyed fixing things, especially lawnmowers. He and his wife enjoyed vacationing in Ocean City, Myrtle Beach, and Florida. He is a proud long-time member of AA with over 40 years of sobriety. You would find Steve at an AA meeting several times a week when he was able to. Sponsoring new members and just being a support to others. Steve made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed making conversation and making everyone feel comfortable. Steve always had a joke to make you smile or laugh. He loved spending time and doing things with his grandchildren. He always made sure they were able to get to special events and enjoyed attending their plays and programs.

In addition to his beloved wife, Jackie, Steve is also survived by his son, Michael James and stepdaughter, Tobie Pulliam (Chris); his sister, Susan Kirkpatrick (John); his grandchildren: Keith James, Arielle Turley, Taylor Berry, and Kendall Pulliam; and many extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Steve is also preceded in death by his son, Daniel James and his stepdaughter, Shannon Berry.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Reverend Edward Hegnauer on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 22375 Three Notch Road, Lexington Park, MD 20653. Inurnment will follow the Mass in the church cemetery.
