Maurice Edward Wood, "Eddie", 83, of Prince Frederick, Maryland passed away February 23, 2023 at Genesis Health Care Nursing Home, Waldorf, Maryland. Eddie was born on April 12, 1939, the only child to the late Marshall and Carrie Bowen Wood in Prince Frederick, Maryland.

He is survived by his loving wife Charlotte Hutchins Wood of 64 years. Father of Brian E. Wood and M. Kevin Wood. Grandfather of Brianna M. Wood and William M. Wood, he is also survived by his great grandchildren Kylah Marie and Kennon Marshall Allegra.

Eddie was employed with State Highway Administration for 35 years, retiring as Resident Maintenance Engineer. Two weeks later he went to work for SMECO as an Environmental Affairs Coordinator for 11 years, retiring in 2004.

He attended Calvert County Public Schools. He loved his family, church, and working on the family tobacco farm with his mom and dad. He enjoyed flowers, baseball and hunting with his dad.

Eddie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he was on numerous Committees, also serving as an usher, liturgist and helped with the Winter Festival. He was a member of the Prince Frederick Methodist Cemetery Corporation for 43 years, Calvert Co. Liquor Board and Asbury Solomons Board. Eddie was a Mason with 142 A.F.&A.M., Prince Frederick, Md.

Edie was a kind loving person, who loved to listen, help, and talk. He enjoyed talking to everyone. On February 28, 2017 his whole life changed due to a massive stroke which took his voice away. He was never able to talk to his friends anymore. He would smile at them, breaking his heart. It took its toll on him, but he loved the Lord and took each day as it came.

The family would like to thank Sagepoint Home Care and Sagepoint Assisted Living, devoted friends, the late Rev. Kenneth Bowen, his Pastor Jim Swecker, Walter Brightwell, Jimmy Owens and his wife Lois Owens, Jan Messick, and all his friends who came to visit and sent cards. Gloria Yost and Lindy Hurley who cared for him through Sagepoint Home Care, Prince Frederick, MD.
