Chesley, Eva Stuckey (AGE 97) of Indian Head (Pomonkey) MD

We announce that Eva Stuckey Chesley, wife of the late James S. Chesley Sr., quietly transitioned to glory on Monday, February 13, 2023.

Eva is survived by her devoted children – Drs. James Chesley Jr, and Joyce Chesley Hayward, and many loving family members.

Eva was a charter member and past president of the Nu Zeta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, as well as the Southern Maryland Chain of the Links, Incorporated. She was also a devoted member of Metropolitan United Methodist church where she took part in several choirs and organizations, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Pierians Incorporated, the NAACP and served as a board member (and past president) of the Educational Systems Federal Credit Union for many years. She was also a school teacher who taught in the Charles County School System for many years.

Her viewing will be held from 3pm until 6pm on Tuesday March 7, 2023 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640 where persons can come and give personal (2 minute) reflections, and then from 6pm to 9pm where some organizations she was part of will present their farewell services (and some personal reflections can be shared during that time as well).

The Celebration of Life service will be on Wednesday, March 8th starting at 9:30 am at Israel Total Life Ministries, located at 97 Industrial Park Drive, Waldorf MD 20602. There will be a viewing before the service from 8:30am to 9:30 am The interment will be at 2:30 pm on Wednesday March 8th at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham. Members of ORGANIZATIONS are encouraged to wear their organizational colors in celebration of her life, legacy and service in their organization when attending the Homegoing Celebration (and for the viewing/service on Tuesday).

The celebration of life service will be live streamed. The streaming will begin after the final family viewing. Therefore, there may be a delay before the service appears on the screen.
