Frances Shirley Thomas, 74, of Welcome, MD, died February 15, 2009, at Georgetown Hospital University in Washington, DC.

Her hobbies included oldies-goodies radio station SPFW, Dover Downs Hotel and Casino, and talking on the telephone to her special friends and family. She enjoyed Sunday dinners, family gatherings, and cookouts.

Born April 25, 1934, in McConchie, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ridgley Scott and Annie Scott. She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles C. Thomas; siblings, Veronica White, Madeline Young, Catherine Farmer, and Augustus, Bernard, Lawrence, and Joseph Scott.

Survived by her husband, Walter L. Thomas; Agnes "Patsy" and her husband Coleman Washington; Christine and her husband John White; Phyllis and her husband Norman Williams; Sandra "Jeanelle" Thomas; Patricia "Judy" and her husband Perry Thomas-Bransome; Tania and her husband Clarence Ball; Shirley-Shirl and her husband Sasha Petrovic; James "Jimmy" and his wife Joan Thomas; 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Mims of Washington, DC; Doris Chisley of La Plata, MD; brother, Thomas Scott of Hyattsville, MD. She has a sister-in-law to cherish her memories, Mrs. Madeline Scott. She is also survived by step-children, Hilda "Dee Dee" and Walter Thomas, Jr.

Visitation and funeral services will be Saturday, February 21, 2009, from 8:30-10:00 AM with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, 7865 Port Tobacco Road, Route 6 West, McConchie, MD. Fr. Robert Kosty will officiate.

Interment will be St. Catherine's Church, McConchie, MD.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine's Church or the American Cancer Society.
