Surrounded by his loving family, at his home, Charles "Chick" Wilfred Gagnon Jr., 82, of La Plata, MD, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2022. He was the beloved husband for 61 years of Charlotte Gagnon, loving father of Charles III "Chet" (Jacqueline) Gagnon of Hollywood, MD, Christopher "Scott" (Susan) Gagnon of Harkers Island, NC and Christy (Juan "Pablo") Foronda of Arlington, VA, adored grandfather of Amanda (Michael) Miller, Melissa (Cody) Blair, Jessica Gagnon, Sarah Gagnon, Shaun Gagnon, Lucas Foronda and Hudson Foronda, great grandfather of Macie Blair, Madelyn Blair, and Felix Miller, brother of Edward Gagnon, Linda (Guy) Williams and Leonard (Dianne) Gagnon. Chick was preceded in death by his parents Charles Sr. and Alice Gagnon, sisters and brother in-laws Marilyn and Al Davis and Jeanne and George Griffin.

Chick was born and raised in Washington, DC and a 1958 graduate of Anacostia High School. He completed the IBEW 26 electrical apprenticeship program and was employed by Singleton Electric Company for 37 years, working on several large projects in the DC area including Dulles Airport, Air and Space Museum and the Pentagon recovery effort after 9/11. Chick was widely respected by his peers and friends in the electrical field, a second-generation proud member of the IBEW Local 26 and considered his many co-workers and friends at Singleton a second family. He was extremely proud that his two sons and grandchildren continue this tradition in that field.

Chick was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on all of the Washington area sports teams. He attended Washington Senators games regularly as a young boy and had season tickets for many years to his beloved Washington Redskins and Nationals. Chick also enjoyed fishing and golf. Chick will be remembered for his humble nature and patience and never speaking an ill word of anyone he ever met. His kindness and loving heart were evident to all. He had deep love for his family, especially his wife Charlotte. He adored the company of his many grandchildren and great grandchildren and would light up whenever they were around.

Chick was a man of deep faith who had a personal and private relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a member of Hughesville Baptist Church for 45 years where he served as the Chairman of Deacons, Sunday school teacher and construction chair for two new church sanctuaries. Those who were loved by Chick will be forever touched by his eternal presence in their lives.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at HUGHESVILLE BAPTIST CHURCH, 8505 Old Leonardtown Road, Hughesville, MD for visitation on Monday, October 10 from 930-11am and a service, luncheon and graveside service to follow. Family suggests memorials to The Lucky Fin Project (www.luckyfinproject.org) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
