Catherine Patricia Erdly, affectionately called Pat, was born on January 18, 1940 in Roscommon, Ireland to the late Thomas and the late Kate Duignan.

Pat was raised in humble surroundings in rural Ireland. Her parents moved the family, Pat, her three sisters and one brother to London in the mid 1950's. It was there she met Jim Erdly, married him and moved to the United States. They were blessed with three loving children, twins, Mark and Marvin, and daughter, Sharon.

Pat was a military wife and mother, traveling with Jim during his various tours of duty and finally making Bryans Road, Maryland their home. She was a member of the Roscommon Club, DC region, enjoyed Irish music, and stayed active as she spent time visiting her five grandchildren. She also took pleasure in international travel and café life.

Pat was a "stay at home" Mom raising three successful and productive children of whom she was tremendously proud. Her extended family of sisters, brother and others was also very important to her as she often would spend summers in London with them.

She was a wonderful conversationalist with a sharp wit and a compassionate and caring heart. She also showed great sensibility and was passionate about cancer research.

On Saturday, February 7, 2009, Catherine P. Erdly, at the Fort Washington Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, quietly entered into eternal life. Her time on earth was well spent, leaving a legacy of memories and love. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, James "Jim," children, Mark, Marvin, and Sharon, grandchildren, Anna, Joel, Nathan, Alexander and Nicolas, son-in-law, Daniel Pearson, daughters-in-law, Natalie McCorkle and Anelyia Erdly, sisters, Margaret (Peggy), Mary, and Annie, brother, Patrick, nieces, Diana Duignan, Patricia Curry, and nephew, Kevin Gilroy along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Her viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 11th, 12:00noon until time of service 1:00pm at Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
