![]() Sylvia Katherine Posten of Huntingtown, Maryland, passed away on August 16, 2022, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, with her loving family by her side. Sylvia was born on March 21, 1947, in Vienna, Austria, to her parents Inge (Berthold) Turner and Jack Dempsey Turner. Her young life began in Austria before moving to the United States, where she was raised with her younger siblings in Point Marion and Smithfield, Pennsylvania.
In July 1966, Sylvia married the love of her life, Raymond Regis Posten. Married for 56 years, they were inseparable and raised three children spending every summer traveling across the country together. Sylvia also loved camping, boating, sewing, and reading. She devoted her life to her family, especially her eight beloved grandchildren, and created opportunities and memories by arranging family vacations that all her family could share together in places, like Bellingham, WA; Big Bend, WV; Bethany Beach, DE; Sanibel, FL; Kauai, HI; and Spetses, Greece. Her family was everything to her. Always curious, well-informed, and prepared, Sylvia was an ardent reader and excelled at everything she did. Extremely organized and financially savvy, she was the office manager for an office furniture maintenance company for more than a decade, and then excelled as a financial analyst and executive assistant in the Comptroller General's Office at the U.S. General Accountability Office. Sylvia also had a very successful career in real estate, earning top awards and the Washington Metro Area rookie of the year in her first year. A woman of deep faith, Sylvia's devotion was caring for and spending time with her eight grandchildren. Often, her grandchildren would be at her house, having sleepovers and game nights with her, as she was so generous with her time and love. She loved to do for others, and holidays were always filled with special moments with large family gatherings at Sylvia and Ray's house. She was her family's biggest supporter, attending all events for her children and grandchildren, proud of all of their accomplishments. Her strength of character, intellectual curiosity, courage, cheer and kindness are characteristics her family and friends will always remember. Sylvia is survived by her husband Raymond, daughter Kelley Miller and her husband Greg Miller, son Ryan Posten and his wife Vasiliki Tsaganos, daughter Jennifer Antonielli, and grandchildren Abigail, Miranda, and Caroline Posten, Wade, Jacob, and Samuel Antonielli, and Katherine and Kurt Miller, and her brother David Turner. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents and her sister Claudia (Turner) Albright. A prayer service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August, 30, 2022, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 1601 W. Mt.
