ANGELA LYNN DAY, of LaPlata, Maryland, after a two-year battle with cancer, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, August 12, 2022, surrounded by her husband and sons. Angie was born on March 5, 1970, in Arlington, Virginia. She grew up in Alexandria, Virginia while spending summers in SW Virginia with her Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. She attended Engleside Christian School in Alexandria, graduating in 1988. Angie's first job was working in the Floral Department for Giant Food. A few years later, Giant would be where she would meet the love of her life, Dennis Day. She and Dennis were inseparable from the start and were married at First Baptist Church Alexandria on October 17, 1992. God blessed them with three amazing sons, John, Christopher, and Tyler. Angie was the most dedicated mother and wife you could imagine. Dennis spent many years coaching High School and travel sports; Angie and the boys never missed a thing. Through his 15-year stint, she became the mother to many and became the Queen of the goody bag. As the boys grew and began playing sports, she would become the Day family taxi getting everyone deposited to where they needed to be. Nothing brought her more joy in life than watching her boys compete. She was the ultimate #Boymom! Her annual Happy Anniversary message to Dennis was "here's to another year of Ballfields and Beaches!" In 2015 the family would move to the OBX where the boys would join the Manteo, North Carolina school community. It was during this stint Angie would make some of her very best friends. The family would make another move in 2019 to La Plata, Maryland following Dennis's promotion. They would move into their dream home in the country which provided her so much joy, peace, and comfort. While her primary role in life was wife and mother, she also touched many lives as a loving child-care provider, Attendance Secretary at Hybla Valley Elementary, and Administrative Assistant at Mossy Oak Properties. Those people with whom she worked will always remember her beautiful smile and sweet personality. Angie never let adversity knock her down. She was beautiful both inside and out, her legacy will live on through her boys and those she leaves behind. She will be terribly missed by all that knew and loved her. Angie is survived by her loving husband, Dennis T. Day, Jr. of LaPlata, Maryland; sons, John J. Day of New Bern, North, Carolina; Christopher T. Day of Rocky Mount, North, Carolina; and Tyler L. Day of LaPlata, Maryland. Her loving In-Laws, Dennis and Martha Day of Alexandria, Virginia looked at Angie as one of their own; Her Cousin and lifelong best friend, Angela Lane Wilbanks(Daryl), Sister-In-Law Deedre Day, Brother-In-Law Darren Day, Sister In- Law Allison Day, Step-Brother Greg Davis(Anina), Aunt Sharon Musick(Bill), Uncle Bo Holdway(Ruby), Uncle Jim Holdway(Teresa), Aunt Suzie Pendergraft(Ernie), Uncle Darrell Holdway(Donna), Aunt Mary Turner, Aunt Sharon Benza (Dave), Aunt Dolores Frye (Tim), Nieces Amanda Day, Taylor Day, Ashley Day, and numerous cousins were very important to Angie, and although separated by miles she loved them all very much. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Angie's name to go towards the construction of a memorial garden in her honor (the contributions can be directed to Dennis Day, 9790 Huntley Drive, La Plata, Maryland 20646). |
