Joyce O. Fogg, 89, a resident of "The Willows" of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, passed away on July 21, 2022 while under the care of The Charleston Senior Community.

Joyce was born in Hayes End in the county of Middlesex, England on November 22, 1932 to Mervyn Wright and Mary May (Matta) Wright. She met her husband of more than 70 years, Richard A. Fogg, when he served in the U.S. Air Force at South Ruislip, England.

Joyce continued her life long journey in the United States when they moved to Loring Air Force base in Limestone, Maine. Joyce often retold the story of how she dressed for the trip with her bouffant hair, and wearing high-heeled shoes and tailored, tweed suit before quickly realizing the local attire was a hunting jacket and snow boots! She became a naturalized citizen in 1959, and spent the rest of her life in the United States living in Maine, Massachusetts and Virginia before settling down at "The Willows". She devoted her time to helping others including as a special education assistant for adults with learning differences, volunteering at a center for disadvantaged women, and as a recurring contributor to the Women's Bible Study at Emmanuel Baptist Church. A voracious reader of both news and fiction, Joyce truly enjoyed living by the Bay watching the birds and butterflies in her backyard garden, volunteering in her community and attending Sunday services. While she was a proud U.S. citizen, she retained her love of the British Royal family and her afternoon cup of tea. Above all, she treasured time with her family, and all the friends and acquaintances who enjoyed her company and companionship.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Meryn and Percy. She is survived by her husband Richard; their children and spouses, Catherine (Wayne) Ramsey of Huntingtown, Maryland, Sharon (Richard) Gibson of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Verity Fogg of Roanoke, Virginia; their grand-children, Melissa (Lawrence "Buddy") Bowen of Huntingtown, Maryland, Colin (Katie) Ramsey of Grovetown, Georgia, Matthew (Jennifer) Nelson of Prince Frederick, Christian Gibson of Oakland, California, Ryan Gibson of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Robert Gibson of Raleigh, North Carolina, along with many great grand-children, nieces and nephews.

Hers was a rich life of deep faith and devoted love. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 27th from 10-11 am, followed by a memorial service from 11-12 pm at Rausch Funeral Home in Owings, Maryland. She will be laid to rest thereafter at Miranda Cemetery located at the 4200 block of Huntingtown Road.

In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions in Joyce's memory may be made to the American Stroke Association, or another charity of your choice.
