Shirley Mae Wentz died January 31, 2009. She was born in Prince Frederick, MD on August 19, 1946 the daughter of the late Elliott G. and Virginia A. (Dowell) Sheckells.

Shirley received her education in Calvert County schools and graduated from Calvert High School. She then attended St. Mary's College. She had been employed at The National Geographic Society in Washington, DC until the birth of her children.

In 1976 she returned to work as a bookeeper for her husband, Charles L. Wentz Painting and Wallcoverings in New Carrollton and later in Gaithersburg retiring in 1994. She had been a member of Huntingtown United Methodist Church. Shirley enjoyed crafts and was a member of a homemaker group when residing in Gaithersburg, MD.

Surviving are her husband Charles L. "Butch" Wentz of Imler, PA; daughter Charlene M. Wentz of Frederick, MD and son and daughter in law Gary A and Mila Wentz of Frederick, MD.; Sisters Peggy Marie Thompson of Dowell, MD; Faye S. Sheilds of Prince Frederick, MD and Terry Lynn Shannon of Huntingtown, MD.
