Joseph Neal Smith, 83, of Cobb Island, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at his home.

Born on February 27, 1939, he was the son of the late Neal Joseph Smith, Linda Smith, and Rita Smith. Neal worked as a plumber, waterman, and pile driver. He enjoyed building boats and various woodworking projects.

In addition to his parents, Neal is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Delores Ann Smith.

Neal is survived by his children Carl Smith (Carolyn) and Carla McDonnell (Stephen). He was the proud grandfather to Brandy Smith, Crystal Jackson (Wesley), Clint Smith, and James McDonnell (Whitney). Joseph also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren – Brendon Harper, Justin Jackson, Donovan Harper, Jesse Fisher, Jacob Smith, Jorja Fisher, Jack Fisher, MacKenzie McDonnell, Jamey Fisher, KayLeigh Jackson, Savannah Smith, and Hayden McElhaney.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 2PM at the Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, Inc.
