![]() Philip Harry Kinney, 80 of Mechanicsville, MD died on February 2, 2009 at George Washington University Hospital.
Born on December 25, 1928 in Indiana, he was the son of the late Albert Harry and Edith Ellery Kinney. Mr. Kinney grew up in Indian Head and Marshall Hall of Southern MD. Graduate of Lackey High School, Class of 1946. Mr. Kinney worked in Heating and Air Conditioning at Goddard Space Center with the Federal Government and retired with 35 years of service. He also retired from Safeway with 30 years of service. Prior he served in the U.S. Army. Member of the Moose Lodge in White Plains & Mechanicsville. He was also extremely involved in the MD Blue Knights, Chapter 1 and held annual summer picnics at his home hosting members from the US and Canada. Mr. Kinney is preceded in death by his wife, the late Katherine Kinney. Survived by children, Sharen Kinney, Kevin Kinney and his wife, Tammy, and Beth Murphy & her fiancée, Wally Lyon, and their mother, Gladys Lyon, grandchildren, Dave & Brittany Sears, April & Chase Kinney, great-grandchildren, Brett & Ryan Sears. Family will receive friends on Friday, February 6, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD where Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 200 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. In Lieu of Flowers and in Honor of Philip, memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Maryland Chapter, 825 Hammonds Ferry Rd., Suites H-J, Linthicum, MD 21090, in hopes to find a cure for his grandson, Chase Kinney who suffers with Diabetes.
