Roger Allen Everstine "Rock" passed away Monday, March 14, 2022 at the age of 87 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Queens, New York to Clarence W. Everstine and Gertrude D. Wendt Everstine, who proceeded him in death.



Roger eventually made his home in Clinton, Maryland, where he met the love of his life, Violet Dickerson, and was married August 25, 1956. Between being in the Navy Reserves and active US Navy duty, He served the country for 8 years. He then went to work for B. Frank Joy Company as a Crane Operator, where he retired after 38 years. After retirement he held his next career at Bethesda Marriott as a Maintenance Engineer for 11 years. After retiring again, he enjoyed part- time jobs at Carquest Auto Parts and Jeneva's Bakery.



Throughout his life, Roger also enjoyed traveling with his family to places like Arizona to visit his brother and Nashville, Tennessee to enjoy the country music. His hobbies included listening to country music from Violet's brothers and his bluegrass albums, especially his all-time favorite Ernest Tubb. He was well known for his love of food and good shenanigans.



In addition to his parents, Roger was proceeded in death by his son Roger Allen Everstine Jr. (Margaret), his brother Harold Everstine (Rachel) and his daughter-in-law Margie Everstine. He is survived by his wife and love of his life of 65 years, Violet Everstine, their children: Elaine (John) and Thomas (Margie). He was the best Pop Pop to 5 grandchildren: Lucy (Steve), Becky (Mike), Robbie (Barbara), Eddie, and Amy, as well as 10 great grandchildren: Destiny, Kylie, Steven, Serenity, Carsen, Alexis, Kayla, Dylan, Anthony, and Jordaan. He leaves behind many family members and friends who he loved dearly.



Roger will be remembered for being the best example for all of us to enjoy life, have fun, don't take things too seriously, and never grow up because it's overrated. He will always be remembered for giving the best hugs.



The service is to be held Saturday March 26, 2022 at 2PM at Dunkirk Baptist Church (11275 Southern Maryland BLVD. Dunkirk, MD 20754) fellowship and repass to follow.
