Michelina "Marlene" Wawro, 76, of White Plains, MD died on February 28, 2022 at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital, Clinton, MD.

Marlene was born on May 9, 1945, in Rochester, NY to the late Annette (Pastiglia) and Charles Bruscato.
Marlene was a secretary for the Charles County Board of Education. She was a devout Catholic, attending Mass daily at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pomfret, MD until the decline of her health.

Every year at Christmas she would sponsor a child through Catholic Charities to ensure that child received gifts from their wish list. She was a breast cancer survivor who supported and counseled other who were battling breast cancer. She enjoyed reading. Marlene's greatest joy came from caring for her family and being a grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother in-law Joseph Rucci.

Marlene is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Anthony Wawro, daughters; Kathleen Lambeth and her husband Homer, and Diane Nunez Mendoza and her husband Eddy, grandchildren; Justin Lambeth, Andrew Lambeth, and Jared Lambeth, fur-granddogs; Percy, and Aztec, sister, Mary Rose Rucci, niece, Bridget Rucci Campbell and her husband Mark, and nephew, David Rucci.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 9:00 – 10:30 AM at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM at St. joseph's Catholic Church, 4595 Saint Josephs Way, Pomfret, MD 20675. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Marlene's name are asked to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
