![]() William Morgan "Bill" Burdette, Jr., 79, of Cobb Island, MD passed away on February 22, 2022.
He was born on October 25, 1942 in Washington, D.C. to the late William Morgan Burdette, Sr. and the late Myrtle Adams Burdette. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert Burdette and John Burdette. Bill was raised in Charles County, Maryland, living mostly in and around La Plata. In his youth he was a member of 4-H and the La Plata High School marching band. Bill graduated from La Plata High School in 1960 and joined the United States Navy in 1961. During his years in the Navy, he was stationed in the Philippines, Hawaii, and California in addition to serving aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. After retiring from the Navy in 1981, Bill worked for many decades in information technology in the private sector and as a government contractor, specializing in information security. His work took him all over the United States and to Canada, Europe, and Asia. He was a resident of La Plata, Maryland again from 1988-2011 while his work was based out of Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. After his retirement, Bill and his wife moved to Placida, Florida and spent several years there before moving to Cobb Island, Maryland in 2019 to be closer to family. He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Margaret (White) Burdette; two sons, David Hoff and his wife Donna of Colonial Beach, VA and Donald Hoff and his wife Erika of Cobb Island, MD; three daughters, Ruth Tokarz of Placida, FL, Teresa Daniel and her husband Gary of Rocklin, CA, and Joelle Burdette and her husband Jesse Tokarz of Raynham, MA; one sister-in-law, Elaine Burdette of White Plains, MD; two grandsons, Timothy Hoff of Missoula, MT and Richard Hoff of Cobb Island, MD; four granddaughters, Christen Martinez and her fiancé Steve Kirk of White Plains, MD, Colleen Resendes and her husband Jason of Norton, MA, Serina Hoff of Charleston, SC, and Jenelle Daniel of Rocklin, CA; three great-grandchildren, Leilani Kirk, Stevie Kirk, and Sicily Kirk, all of White Plains, MD; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews throughout the United States and Canada. A Gathering will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 2PM until time of Memorial Service at 4PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in William's memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105. |
