Cecil Michael Queen, 74, of Nanjemoy, Maryland

After the sunset on February 15, 2022, at Howard University Hospital, "Mike" surrendered to God. The agonizing pain, not being able to breathe, the suffering and anxiety that he endured was over. He is now resting comfortable in Jesus' loving arms in peaceful rest.

Mike accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at a very young age and as time went by, he became closer and closer to Him, even in his final hours. He could quote you verses and scriptures from the bible. He was born to the late; Mary M. Barnes and James H. Queen in Pisgah, Maryland, October 14, 1947. He was educated in the Charles County public school system. Mike was blessed with a daughter, Shermekia Queen. He was a mechanic; did body work on vehicles, had talented writing skills, taught his niece, Tessa, how to type and as he would say, he was a "Jack of All Trades."

He always had an opinionated voice, as well as a "unique voice and laugh." Everybody knew near and far when you heard him from a distance, it was definitely "Mike Queen." No one else had that distinctive voice or laughter. Mike always had a story to tell you about something that he remembered from his past...from a long, long time ago and he even stated that he remembered when he was a baby. Mike's most enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and friends, wherever there were family gatherings, music playing, good home-cooked food, a beer and an old drink or two, he was there. Those "Oldies but Goodies" songs made him get up on the dance floor or cut a step in the yard and dance the night away. Mike mastered hand dancing. Let's not forget, while carrying on a conversation with you, he'd rename all of us as "Bae Bae" and lean back. In the kitchen, he would stir up one of his concoctions and award himself with the bragging rights. Mike enjoyed riding along in his nephew, Larry's truck to go to Maryland international raceway in Budd's Creek, Maryland to watch his other nephews, Chris and Meachie race their cars down the track. He also often called on his great nephew, Zack "Mann," to come to his rescue to help him with something or just to talk and get a laugh. Mike also depended on another great nephew, Ron, for help, especially with rides. Mike had a special love for everyone in his family and each one was very special to him. If the entire family could be mentioned individually it would take a tremendous amount of time, to explain how he truly felt about us all. He carried each of us in his heart. He was very honoring indeed to have to his sister Ruth by his side and she thanks God for her brother Mike. His brother "Littie" misses his baby bro J, her and he also loved him dearly. The bond he had with all of us will never go away and he truly loved his aunt Marion and her children as well. We know that his parents, sister Evelyn and also his other siblings are rejoicing in Heaven that their "baby brother" has made it over. Praise God!

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Mary M. Barnes and James H. Queen, brothers, Morris E. Queen, Sr., and Theodore "Budda ball" Queen," sisters, Evelyn Travers, brother-in-law, Joe Louis Travers, Eartha Barnes-Taylor, Doris Monk, Azell Gutrick and Gladys Simmons, great nephews, Bruce Queen and Lorenzo Forbes, cousin, Francis "Dickie" Barbour.
