Abner Elwood Dudley Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home on Monday, February 7, 2022, at the age of 66.

He was born on April 8, 1955, in Washington, DC to Gladys Elizabeth Walters (nee Posey) and the late Abner Elwood Dudley Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Edna "Rena" Dudley, (nee Sweeney), mother, Gladys Walters, stepfather, Perry "Walt" Walters, daughter, Kristee Boswell, sons, Eric Dudley, Abner Elwood "Woody" Dudley III (Jen), and Daniel "Wesley" Dudley (Ashley), niece, Jodi Lynn Sweeney (Linda), grandchildren, Calvin Dudley, Ryan Dudley, Aria Dudley, Lia Dudley, Brynnleigh Dudley, Ricky Boswell Jr., and Carter Dudley, extended family, Kayden Cargill, Jaydon Cargill, Leanna Cargill, and Mateo Cargill.

He is preceded in death by his father, Abner Elwood Dudley Sr. and sister Judith Leah Dudley.

Elwood was a heavy machine operator, and he enjoyed his hobbies of fishing, hunting, crabbing, and cooking on the grill. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was especially fond of the time spent with his grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Eric Dudley, Woody Dudley, Wesley Dudley, Calvin Dudley, Jerry Sweeney, Tony Sweeney, Jimmy Sweeney, and Blake Graff.

Honorary Pallbearers: Ryan Dudley, Ricky Boswell Jr., and Carter Dudley.

The family would also like to give a special thank you to Elwood's nieces Lauren Proctor, Ashley McGuigan, and Rachel Sweeney who stepped in to help during his time of need.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday February 19, 2022, from 10 AM until time of funeral service at 12 pm. Interment to follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Indian Head, MD.
